Twentieth century, the city was an industrial port town, with a cement plant, nail mill, wire mills, and the U.S.steel plant.

1916, during WW1, a shipbuilding plant on St. Louis River produced eight ships simultaneously.

June 14, 1920, The Duluth lynchings took place on first street and second ave. east

April 30, 1967, Later referred to as "black Sunday", a strong storm was ripping at the great lake city of Duluth, MN, wanting to see the huge twenty foot waves.

1971, the steel plant closed.

On June 27, 1977, Elizabeth Congdon, a wealthy 83 year old woman and her nurse, Velma Pietila, were murdered in the Congdon mansion in Duluth, MN.

November 19, 2010, Christmas city of the North parade in Duluth, MN at canal park. A northern Minnesota tradition!
